New Museum on the Scene Launches Downtown with a Splash

The Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco (ICA SF) made its presence known on October 24, when they launched their new downtown location at The Cube, a former bank turned cutting-edge design space operated by Vornado Realty Trust. Located at 345 Montgomery Street, the Cube’s airy interior space has been transformed to accommodate the ICA’s penchant for non-traditional exhibition formats.

More than 650 guests converged on the opening gala, ready to view the three inaugural exhibitions on display: The Poetics of Dimensions curated by Larry Ossei-Mensah; Maryam Yousif: Riverbend; and Spotlight: Kathleen Ryan. Among the night’s notable attendees were Founding Director of ICA SF Ali Gass, ICA SF Board Chair Ethan Beard, and featured artists Maryam Yousif and Kathleen Ryan. ICA SF is a non-collecting art museum that offers artists from around the world an opportunity to push boundaries, experiment with new ideas and take risks. The museum is free and open to the public.
