The atmosphere was electric at San Francisco Root Division’s 23rd Annual Art Auction, where creativity and community met in a vibrant celebration on October 24. Root Division is a visual arts non-profit supporting Bay Area creatives. That night the space at Root Division was opened to all its supporters, who showed up ready to party. A diverse lineup of over 180 artists shared their creations, representing mediums from photography to painting to sculpture.
The exciting live auction was led by Aaron Bastian of Bonhams with Root Division leadership past and present: outgoing Executive Director Michelle Mansour and incoming Executive Director Demetri Broxton led the lively competition to take home the stunning art on display. Of the over $265,000 raised this year, $175,000 was from art sales alone. Since its founding in 2002, Root Division has worked to address the main challenges facing the Bay Area’s emerging artists, including affordable studio space and exhibition opportunities, as well as providing free arts education to over 800 youth annually.
