Guests of Save the Redwoods League Go Into the Woods for Annual Gala

Save the Redwoods League, a nonprofit organization with a mission to protect and restore coastal redwoods and giant sequoias, held its annual gala May 3 amidst the splendor of the towering trees in Golden Gate Park. Guests came decked out in their outdoors-iest finery, bringing splashes of color to the cool green oasis in the AIDS Memorial Grove. It was a fully immersive experience from start to finish, a carefully curated evening designed to connect partygoers to the natural world around them.

The nature-forward event included forest bathing–the Japanese practice of finding healing through time in the woods–and a mushroom-inspired game of “art n’ seek.” Music and ambiance were provided by a trio of musicians from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, who serenaded attendees into dinner. But the night’s highlight was unquestionably the silent disco under the stars, where guests danced among the redwoods in glowing headphones—a joyful, surreal finale to a night that celebrated community and the beauty of the forest. Altogether, supporters raised over $700,000, $150,000 of which is dedicated to the Monte Rio Redwoods Expansion, advancing the League’s mission to protect these iconic landscapes for future generations.
