On May 15, Nintendo welcomed the first guests to Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO, its second official store in the United States, and the latest company to set up shop in Union Square. The grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony was led by Nintendo of America President and COO Doug Bowser, with an assist from SF Mayor Daniel Lurie and Mario. The two-story Powell Street space is filled with demo stations, a giant gaming screen and larger-than-life character statues, creating a uniquely interactive shopping experience.
Guests at the grand opening lined up around the corner for the chance to be the first to browse the store’s packed shelves of brightly colored merch. In addition to game systems and games, shoppers at Nintendo’s newest store can explore exclusive products including accessories, apparel and home goods. In his remarks at the ribbon cutting, Doug Bowser thanked the city of San Francisco for a warm welcome into the community.
