The bright June sun illuminated a historic moment on June 4, as Sutter Health’s leadership gathered at its CPMC Mission Bernal Campus to break ground on the Advanced Neuroscience Complex. Technology investor and philanthropist David Dolby, alongside his mother Dagmar Dolby, joined Mayor Daniel Lurie and City Attorney David Chiu in celebrating the $442 million investment that will transform brain health services in San Francisco.
Speakers at the groundbreaking ceremony emphasized how the five-story facility will bring together cutting-edge research, clinical trials and compassionate care under one roof. The complex, designed during 18 months of planning with SmithGroup, will revolutionize treatment for conditions ranging from dementia to headaches when it opens its doors in 2028. Attendees applauded the Dolby family’s visionary support for advancing Alzheimer’s disease and neurological care, while Sutter Health President & CEO Warner Thomas highlighted the organization’s bold commitment to the city’s healthcare future through this transformational campus expansion.
