ELEVATING SPACES WITH HANDCRAFTED BRILLIANCE
Context Of Things is redefining luxury as more than just design—it’s an art form. With an unwavering commitment to creativity and craftsmanship, the boutique product sourcing company transforms spaces into soulful experiences. From custom furniture to rare fine art, every object sourced by Context Of Things tells a story of elegance and intention. Based in San Francisco, the firm partners with interior designers, luxury brands, and design visionaries worldwide to deliver one-of-a-kind solutions for residential, hospitality, and commercial projects.
A HERITAGE ROOTED IN CRAFTSMANSHIP
The story began in the 1970s, when matriarch Meena Khokha introduced exquisite, handcrafted brass from India to a discerning clientele in the United States. Along- side her husband, Sam—a civil engineer with a keen eye for aesthetics—they built a global venture called India Exotics, rooted in uncompromising quality and craftsmanship
The entrepreneurial spirit carried on to their sons, Raj and Ash, who recognized a gap in the market for well- made, value-conscious home décor and established India Connection—a company that continues to thrive today as a trusted wholesaler to many of America’s leading retailers.

And recently, a new chapter unfolded with Context of Things—a design-forward brand born from the rich legacy of India Connection and India Exotics. Led by this second generation of the Khokha family, it represents a modern evolution of deep sourcing heritage, blending time-honored craft with intentionally curated—all for a design-conscious customer. Co-founder Gauri Khokha—daughter-in-law, wife, and mother—is the design architect behind the boutique product sourcing brand.
Representing the next generation of a family-led business, Gauri is helping shape a vision that seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, reimagining how we build and experience bespoke luxury interiors.
CONTINUING A LEGACY
Stepping into a legacy family business can be daunting, but for Gauri—educated as an architectural engineer—it was a natural evolution. Raised in India, where custom tailoring is an integral cultural norm, she grew up appreciating that luxury, quality, and accessibility can—and should—coexist. This mindset profoundly shaped her business philosophy when she co-founded Context Of Things as an integral part of the Khokha family’s established home décor business.
“Luxury doesn’t have to be intimidating,” says her husband and co-founder, Raj Khokha. “It’s about knowing the right materials and the right makers. Once you know where to look, bespoke becomes achievable.”

ACCESSIBLE, NOT EXPENSIVE
At Context Of Things, “accessible bespoke” is more than a motto—it’s a mission. Co-founder Ash Khokha explains, “People equate bespoke with expensive. But with the right network, you can source exceptional materials—from centuries-old, reclaimed wood to fine Italian marble—without the premium markup.”
Through strategic sourcing and a global network built over 50 years, Context Of Things offers high-quality materials like Italian marble and sustainably sourced reclaimed wood—once perceived as exclusive—at accessible prices. The brand leverages generational craftsmanship, from leatherwork to hand-woven textiles, to create made-to-measure pieces that never sacrifice quality. Among its longstanding collaborations is a global legacy of executing innovative design projects for Louis Vuitton—testament to the brand’s ability to deliver excellence at scale, without compromising on artistry or intention.

DESIGNING SPACES WITH SOUL
Post-pandemic, there is an ever-growing desire to bring the warmth of home into the public spaces we inhabit. Whether it’s an office or a restaurant, Context Of Things be- lieves in creating environments that resonate emotionally.
“There’s a sense of comfort in touching real things— wood, stone, natural fabrics. It brings a sense of wellness to workspaces,” notes Sonal Khokha, co-founder.
With that ethos in mind, Context Of Things is currently working on projects around the globe, from London, France, Tokyo, and Singapore to California, Florida, and Texas, bringing residential sensibilities to commercial interiors and exteriors. By blending natural materials with thoughtful design, they aim to infuse these spaces with a mood and materiality that make them feel lived-in and welcoming.

LOOKING AHEAD
While the third generation of Khokhas may one day join the business, the founders of Context Of Things remain focused on inspiring happiness through thoughtful design. “At the end of the day, it’s simply about bringing joy to people’s lives,” Gauri concludes.
Her approach to luxury is more than aesthetic—it’s a philosophy rooted in inclusivity, craftsmanship, and community. As Gauri helps lead Context Of Things into a new era, she’s proving that high design doesn’t have to be exclusive or expensive but rather deeply personal—reflecting thoughtful choices and sustainable practices.
