The championship Ocean Golf Course at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay was recently the site of a day of sports, community-building and family fun, all for a good cause. On May 9, Breakthrough T1D (type 1 diabetes) held its 10th annual Tee to Table event, a full day of fun that offered something for everyone. From a golf scramble, to a pickleball round robin, to an evening of music and dining, the over 300 guests left tired but with warm memories of celebrating with friends old and new.
The festivities began bright and early with a golf tournament scramble on the Ocean Course, while the non-golfers in the group headed for the pickleball court. The sport-themed fun didn’t stop there; guests were welcomed to the evening portion of the event by the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush Cheerleaders, who ushered partygoers to the elegant multi-course dinner with live musical entertainment from Hip Service. The evening program provided generous guests with more chances to give, in the form of a fund-a-cure and an exciting live auction. It was a lively competition, with paddle-raisers bidding on choice items like an instant wine cellar of premium wines, a Maui dream vacation and a Bay Area sports fan package with exclusive seats for the 49ers, Warriors and Sharks. In all, Breakthrough T1D raised $1.93 million for type 1 diabetes research.
