buildOn Hosts Fourth Annual Benefit Concert at The Chapel

The fourth annual buildOn Better Together Concert took place at The Chapel in San Francisco on May 8, bringing together an enthusiastic crowd in support of buildOn programs in Oakland. Headlined by Grace Bowers and the Hodge Podge, the sold-out event raised over $260,000 for buildOn’s programs. The event offered something for everyone–from live music to virtual reality–and guests left feeling inspired and motivated by the testimonials they heard.

Attendees also heard a powerful message from buildOn’s CEO, Jim Ziolkowski, and got to witness a performance by two buildOn students, who joined the opening band Westerly onstage to perform an original song they co-wrote. There were also buildOn students in the audience, adding energy and heart to the night. Meanwhile, up in the mezzanine, guests could experience a Virtual Reality station offering an immersive look at buildOn’s Trek program in one of its global partner countries. Through service learning programs in under-served high schools, and by building schools in under-resourced countries, buildOn is committed to uniting communities through service and education.
