California College of the Arts (CCA) opened its doors on October 19 to welcome students, alumni and boosters to a special celebration. The Making Futures opening-day party launched a campus expansion that has been years in the making. Guests got the chance to explore the addition, and tour the art studios that are given pride of place in the new buildings. The facilities, designed by Studio Gang, also offer stunning city views from a series of outdoor terraces.
The day’s events got off to a lively start with CCA’s annual Homecoming Alumni Gathering, where attendees got the chance to view an exhibition of the college’s history adorning the walls of the Nave Presentation Space. Provost Tammy Rae Carland later welcomed special guests at the Opening Ceremony, including Mayor London Breed, CCA President David C. Howse and Chinese Consul General Jianmin Zhang. Mayor Breed also gave the college an official proclamation declaring October 19, 2024 as California College of the Arts Day.
