The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) hosted its annual Celebration of Heart Gala on April 25. More than 400 guests gathered at San Francisco’s Pier 27 for an inspiring event that celebrated the organization’s mission to support athletes with physical disabilities. Highlights of the evening’s program included the inspiring journey of 7-year-old double amputee Micah Magaña, a thriving CAF-supported athlete, with heartfelt remarks from his father about CAF’s life-changing impact on their family.
CAF believes that engaging in physical activity encourages independence and enriches the quality of life. The evening raised $1.1 million in support of athletes with physical disabilities, surpassing the organization’s fundraising goal. “This was a breakout year for Celebration of Heart — we truly advanced to the next level,” said CAF board member Alan Shanken. “Thanks to tonight’s generosity, even more individuals will have access to the resources and encouragement they need to thrive.”
