ODC launched their 2025 Spring dance season on March 5, with a stylish pre-gala party at San Francisco’s flagship Gucci store in Union Square. ODC/Dance supporters and VIPs gathered at the luxury shop for bubbly, light bites and a special dance performance from the ODC/Dance troupe. The lucky guests also got a chance to browse the latest from Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, previewing new clothes and accessories from the storied brand.
McCalls Catering provided a tempting spread of passed hors d’oeuvres, including a scrumptious shiitake mushroom roll glazed with soy, and Hawaiian-inspired lomi lomi salmon on crisp taro chips. Just as partygoers were starting to get serious about shopping, ODC/Dance dancers made a surprise appearance to stage an in-store performance for the delighted guests. The dancers performed excerpts from Founding Artistic Director Brenda Way’s works A Brief History of Up and Down and Triangulating Euclid, and Way herself made remarks about the importance of dance to San Francisco’s cultural life. The party and performance provided a preview for ODC/Dance’s upcoming April 11 Dance Downtown benefit gala, with additional performances running April 10-13th at the Blue Shield of California Theater at YBCA.
