Within the wood paneled walls of Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco, supporters of Episcopal Community Services gathered for the 2025 CHEFS (Conquering Homelessness Through Employment in Food Services) Gala. On May 10, the CHEFS Gala celebrated Episcopal Community Services’ workforce development program that enables individuals who have experienced homelessness to train, intern and find employment in the culinary industry. The annual CHEFS Gala shines a spotlight on this hands-on culinary training program for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The evening was a powerful testament to compassion and generosity. With the help of dedicated donors and sponsors, ECS was able to raise over $450,000 to further its mission of ending homelessness through housing, workforce development and wrap-around services. The Very Rev. Malcolm Clemens Young of Grace Cathedral was one of the local VIPs on hand to show their support of this most worthy cause. Since 1983, ECS has provided essential services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in San Francisco.
