On July 13, Festival Napa Valley gave attendees two reasons to celebrate. The annual Grand Cru Classics concert drew some of the world’s finest musicians to play for a packed crowd, while a more subdued–but no less festive–patron dinner took place at an area winery.
This year, the Grand Cru Classics performance featured renowned violinist Ray Chen, who played Mendelssohn’s moving Violin Concerto, accompanied by Festival Orchestra Napa and led by conductor Filippo Ciabatti. Pianist and festival favorite Jean-Yves Thibaudet also took to the stage that night, giving a rousing performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue to mark the classic work’s 100th anniversary.
At nearby ONEHOPE Winery, some of Festival Napa Valley’s biggest supporters attended an elegant patron’s dinner held in the winery’s beautiful hillside setting, with sweeping views of the surrounding valley. Diners enjoyed a refined meal from Componere highlighting the bounty of the summer season, accompanied by fine wines from ONEHOPE and a special canapé featuring caviar from The Caviar Co. ONEHOPE Winery is dedicated to world-class wines and worldwide impact. This made it a fitting setting for the patron dinner, where attendees celebrated Festival Napa Valley’s dedication to the mission of bringing world-class performances to its community.
