The stars were out in force on October 10, as Glenn Close hosted the 12th annual fundraiser for Bring Change to Mind (BC2M), a mental health-focused nonprofit co-founded by Close in 2010. A gracious home in Woodside opened its doors for a night of comedy, fun and heartfelt advocacy on behalf of BC2M’s teen mental health initiative.
As part of the night’s inspiring program, Close honored two celebrity pals who have joined her in the fight to destigmatize mental illness. Actress, director and author Amy Poehler received the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award in recognition of her mental health activism. Performer and comic improv star Wayne Brady was also there, to receive the Champion of Change Award for his remarkable work supporting BC2M high school students. Other celebs on hand that night included Billy Eichner, Josh Groban and Zak and Zelda Williams.
The night of laughter and entertainment did real good, raising $1 million for the organization’s important work. BC2M creates multimedia campaigns, storytelling movements and youth-focused programs to encourage and foster a diverse cultural conversation around mental health. BC2M’s network of High School and Middle School Clubs, spanning 42 states and 600 schools, provides evidence-based solutions to mental health challenges.
Premier Sponsor Gilead Foundation is joined by support from Wheels Up and The St. Regis. American Eagle was also on hand to announce the launch of the AE Foundation and present BC2M with its $100,000 Signature Grant.
