The Rodin Sculpture Garden was the picturesque site for an event so rarefied it’s only held every two years: Museums by Moonlight, an elegant soiree to benefit Stanford University’s Cantor Arts Center and the Anderson Collection. A highly anticipated social event, Museums by Moonlight is an occasion to see and be seen–after dark.
The fun started on September 14 with cocktails and delicious small bites for the 400 assembled guests and patrons. Next came an extravagant dinner, followed by dancing among the Rodins and toasts to the Anderson Collection’s 10th anniversary. As the evening unfolded, guests were free to wander among the galleries for an exclusive look at the collection, and a special preview of a new exhibition titled Spirit House, a part of Cantor’s Asian American Art Initiative.
Each year the Cantor Arts Center welcomes over 150,000 visitors to view more than a dozen different exhibitions annually, alongside works from the permanent collection and public programs including lectures, screenings and Family Day events. The proceeds from the Museums by Moonlight benefit support these and other artistic and educational programs. Admission is free to all. The impact of these programs extends to K-12 schools in three counties, Stanford students, staff, and faculty and members of the general public from across the nation and around the globe.
