Juma Ventures, a nonprofit dedicated to employing young people and equipping them with essential skills, hosted its annual benefit this year at the iconic Gotham Club at Oracle Park. The event brought together community boosters and local luminaries in support of youth services across the West Coast.
The evening kicked off with an appearance by Lou Seal, famous mascot of the San Francisco Giants, whose antics delighted young and old alike. Attendees gathered for the elegant Host Committee Reception, followed by an extravagant four-course feast accompanied by wine pairings to satisfy the oenophiles in the group.
The audience also heard a moving testimonial from Juma alumna Shaniyah, and remarks from the Juma Board of Directors describing the organization’s life-changing work. In an evening highlight, Juma’s CEO Adriane Armstrong announced the launch of Juma’s new Youth Empowerment Emergency Fund. This fund, which received its initial seed investment through gifts pledged by guests that night, will provide support to Juma youth who encounter unexpected financial challenges.
There were even more festivities in store for attendees with the whimsical “10th Inning Celebration,” which showcased an array of specialty cocktails, tempting hors d’oeuvres, live music and dancing. The success of “Paths to Possibility” reflects the unwavering commitment of Juma Ventures’ supporters, and the ongoing need for programs that foster economic independence and career readiness among underserved youth.
