Neiman Marcus Welcomes Lunar New Year in Style with Tea Party and Fashion Show

This year, February 13 at Neiman Marcus’s saw more than just last-minute Valentine’s Day shopping. That afternoon local VIPs, including San Francisco Opera President Courtney Labe and philanthropist Jill Cowan, gathered in the private dining room in the famed Rotunda for an elegant event to mark the Lunar New Year. Hosted by Neiman Marcus VP Lin Huber, the Lantern Festival Afternoon Tea also included an exclusive fashion show that previewed the latest styles from the upcoming spring season. Those lucky enough to make the guest list enjoyed a refined afternoon that fused culture, fashion and fine cuisine.

The curated menu by Chef Chef Erik Harrelson featured decadent bites like duck spring rolls, caviar tartlets, fresh scones and nian gao, the traditional Chinese New Year Cake. The indulgent meal was served with an array of select teas, like Eastern Beauty black tea, jasmine green tea, and blooming chrysanthemum. The buzzy crowd agreed that the menu highlight was a stunning lemon-coconut version of the traditional French kouign-amann pastry. The delightful east-west flavor fusion perfectly captured the spirit of this one-of-a-kind celebration.
