It was a perfect autumn day in Napa Valley on the beautiful grounds of the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, when lovers of dance gathered to celebrate one of the Bay Area’s most innovative dance troupes. ODC hosted its annual Fall for Art fundraiser on September 29, treating guests at the intimate affair to a lavish luncheon and stunning performances.
The afternoon began with a fabulous lunch al fresco provided by McCall’s Catering & Events. Diners feasted on seasonally inspired dishes like heirloom tomatoes & compressed honeydew melon, roasted Brussels sprouts with yams and smoked beef tenderloin, all served family style under a canopy of trees. This was the fundraiser’s 35th anniversary but their very first year hosting at di Rosa, and ODC’s guests took the opportunity to explore the facility’s picturesque grounds.
The highlight of the afternoon’s program was, of course, the dancing. Several works were performed for delighted attendees including the ensemble piece Sunny Side Up, choreographed by Mia J. Chong and Journey, choreographed by Dexandro Montalvo and performed by ODC/Dance company and the ODC Dance Jam, the company’s resident teen dance company. Funds raised at 2024’s Fall for Art will support the creation of new dance works, and scholarships for ODC’s Youth & Teen Program.
