On February 26, San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) supporters enjoyed a special night–and an exclusive performance–at the Conservatory’s benefit concert, SFCM Presents: The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, feat. Joshua Bell. Conductor and violinist Bell led the renowned English orchestra in an exciting night of music that trained the spotlight on student musicians. The Academy and SFCM students played side-by-side in a performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, led by Joshua Bell.
Prior to the concert, guests and supporters enjoyed an exquisite dinner in SFCM’s Barbro Osher Recital Hall, provided by McCalls Catering. There followed a quick jaunt across the street for the concert at Davies Symphony Hall. Following the performance, Mr. Bell, Academy members and attendees headed to a festive afterparty featuring DJs, a dance party and live music from SFCM Roots Jazz and American Music students. The event raised over $700,000 for the institution’s scholarship program.
