SFMOMA Celebrates Opening of SECA Art Award Exhibition

Each year SFMOMA recognizes outstanding Bay Area artists with their prestigious SECA Art Award. On December 12, the museum introduced the latest class of honorees with a party to commemorate their first major museum exhibition. That night the work of newly minted SECA artists Rose D’Amato, Angela Hennessy and Rupy C. Tut was celebrated in style with a glamorous reception and an exhibit preview.

Festive bites from McCalls Catering and glasses of bubby were passed around, as attendees enjoyed live entertainment and perused the exciting pieces on display from the future stars of the art scene. Since 1967, SECA (Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art) has honored more than seventy Bay Area artists with an exhibition at SFMOMA and an accompanying publication. The current exhibition will be on display in SFMOMA’s Art of California galleries on Floor 2 through May 26, 2025.
