St. Vincent de Paul Hosts Annual Brennan Awards Honoring the City’s “Unseen”

San Francisco’s St. Vincent de Paul Society welcomed benefactors to the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel on October 3, for its 31st annual Brennan Award Dinner. The Brennan Award honors people whose work has had outstanding impact on San Francisco residents experiencing homelessness and on survivors of domestic violence.

The theme of this year’s gala was “We See the Unseen,” as the organization turned the spotlight on the people it serves. In choosing to bestow the Brennan Award on its clients, St. Vincent both honored their community and highlighted the critical services it provides. Opening with an invocation given by the President of USF, Rev. Paul J. Fitzgerald, the night’s program also featured live entertainment from the USF Jazz Band.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco was founded in 1860 on the simple principle of assisting those who need help the most. Through financial support, personal guidance, and by providing basic necessities like food and shelter, St. Vincent de Paul strives to offer their clients a sense of hope during their darkest hours. While the Society has undergone many changes and transformations over the years, they have never wavered in their commitment to support those in need regardless of race, creed, religion or sexual orientation.
