City leaders showed up in force on November 13, when The Salvation Army launched its 2024 Red kettle campaign at the 21st Annual Holiday Luncheon at the Terra Gallery. Nearly 300 supporters including Mayor-Elect Daniel Lurie and San Francisco Supervisor Matt Dorsey., were all on hand to support the organization’s homelessness initiative The Way Out.
The event ushered in the season of giving with a luxe selection of hors d’oeuvres prepared by students of The Salvation Army Culinary Arts Training Academy. The sit-down luncheon was accompanied by a speaker program highlighting The Way Out’s recovery-based path out of homelessness. With services including residential drug treatment, career development, and an alumni support network, The Way Out helps participants get back on the path to stability.
The Way Out helps individuals struggling with addiction to get off drugs, rediscover their potential, and renew their sense of hope for the future. A record $800,000 was raised at this year’s luncheon, which will provide vital funds for this life-saving program.
