The Salvation Army’s Annual Gala Celebrates Community and Sparks Inspiration

The Salvation Army’s Lighting The Way Gala–a fixture of the Spring social calendar–was held on May 15, raising over $1 million and uniting hundreds of community leaders for an inspiring evening filled with heart, hope and celebration. The 2025 event supported The Way Out, the Salvation Army’s powerful recovery-centered response to homelessness. “This evening was about more than raising funds—it was about raising hope,” said Major Darren Norton, Divisional leader for The Salvation Army’s Golden State Division.

The night highlighted The Way Out’s remarkable impact: detox services, comprehensive treatment, housing career support—and a notable 76% success rate. Guests were treated to a delightful reception catered by graduates of the Army’s Culinary Training Academy, followed by a sit-down dinner. The powerful program that accompanied the meal showcased real-life recovery stories from participants in the Army’s lifesaving programs. The evening concluded with a fabulous afterparty at Holbrook House, where the celebration left guests inspired by the collective impact of hope and community. The evening raised over $1 million in support of The Way Out program.
