Wilkes Bashford has unveiled its breathtaking new flagship store at Stanford Shopping Center, setting a new standard for luxury retail. This expansive 26,000-square-foot space, designed by world-renowned architecture firm Gensler, seamlessly merges the refined Italian Costiera aesthetic with the warm, sunlit charm of Northern California. Since its opening in November 2024, the standalone building has redefined the shopping experience, complementing elite brands like Brunello Cucinelli, Kiton, Akris, and Baroni.

A Captivating First Impression

From the moment visitors step inside, the store’s grand double-height entrance immediately captures attention. Sunlight floods the space, enhancing its inviting ambiance. Three stunning chandeliers, crafted from champagne-toned metal and Capiz-like shells, shimmer as they catch the light, evoking a dreamlike cloudscape above. Meanwhile, below them, raked marble jewelry cases gleam, showcasing Wilkes Bashford’s signature collection.

Seamless Design That Connects with Nature

As shoppers move through the store, soft curves and textured walls shift with the natural light, creating a dynamic visual experience. Rich red gum veneer, inspired by Palo Alto’s towering redwoods, wraps around the columns, grounding the space in nature. Above, the softly contoured, double-tiered ceiling mirrors a forest canopy, diffusing light gently across the sales floor.

Luxury shopping at Wilkes Bashford goes beyond merchandise—it’s about making customers feel at home. The women’s fitting area, designed for elegance and comfort, features botanical-inspired chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling drapery. Sunlight pours in, enhancing the room’s warm and refined atmosphere. Meanwhile, the men’s fitting space offers a more masculine yet intimate experience. Designed like a traditional social parlor, it includes a whiskey bar and an entertainment lounge, providing a sophisticated retreat.

At the heart of the new store is a deep commitment to personalized service. The upper-level VIP suite is an intimate, flexible space designed for Wilkes Bashford’s most exclusive clients. Wide-plank oak floors, monolithic Calacatta marble slabs, and light oak wardrobes create a refined yet comfortable setting. This private space can also be transformed for special events, such as intimate luncheons, poker nights, or curated wardrobe fittings.

More Than Retail: A Destination for Luxury and Relaxation

Beyond its retail offerings, Wilkes Bashford’s new location introduces two exceptional customer spaces. The private jewelry room provides a cozy, well-lit setting where clients can carefully select the perfect accessory. Meanwhile, the refined hospitality lounge offers a relaxing escape. Guests can sip a cappuccino, enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or unwind on the outdoor patio while chatting with the Mitchell team.
