San Francisco’s historic Julia Morgan Ballroom was the scene for the launch of an exciting new tradition: San Franciscans of the Year Icons Celebration. Presented by the San Francisco Examiner on November 20, the gala honored 12 city denizens who have left their mark on our town. Representing a broad array of fields from business to the arts, many of the Bay Area’s most notable leaders turned out to pay tribute to the night’s honorees.
Events kicked off with a glamorous cocktail reception, followed by a three-course dinner. The sumptuous fare, provided by Julia Morgan’s culinary team, included eye of prime rib and a decadent chocolate mousse trio. Among the guests tucking into the feast were VIPs like Mayor London Breed and award-winning chef Kathy Fang. The award presentation was the event highlight, as SF notables like former mayor Willie Brown, and philanthropists Dede Wilsey and Roselyne Swig, each took their turn on the stage to be honored for helping make San Francisco a world-class city.
