Exploratorium’s Annual Benefit Offers Fabulous Family Playdate

San Francisco’s beautiful Exploratorium was the bayside setting for a day of family fun on October 6. Over 250 kids, parents and grandparents joined in on the fun and embarked on an expedition of the Bay. Together, they shared an unforgettable afternoon of play and discovery.

Festivities kicked off with a reception in Fisher Bay Observatory, followed by some Bay-centric activities in the museum galleries. The annual event also offered attendees the chance to explore the marine biome that surrounds the museum through mud grab and plankton extraction activities, led by staff scientists. Children got to make their own oceanic creations, like sand slime led by Maker Studio Kidz, kelp pressing and tataki zomé–and they took it all home in their special Wonder Funday tote bags.

The Exploratorium is San Francisco’s public learning laboratory, exploring the world through science, art, and human perception. The funds raised at Funday will help the Exploratorium fulfill its mission to create inquiry-based experiences that transform learning and help people think for themselves, to better understand the world around them.
