On June 26, notables from San Francisco’s social scene gathered at Atelier Crenn to sample a first taste of Veuve Clicquot’s La Grande Dame Rosé 2015. The event, co-hosted by newlywed Chef Crenn and her wife, actress Maria Bello, saw the restaurant’s iconic dining space transformed into an homage to the pink bubbly the guests came out to sample.
Custom rosé pink tables alternated with tables draped with Veuve Clicquot yellow were filled with local notables including Lily Kwong, Denise Hale, Tamara Rojo, Kathryn Lasater, Dan Rubinstein, David Shimmon, Nadir Shaikh, Kerry Diamond, Jay Jeffers, raised a glass to the spirit of the always-innovative Veuve Clicquot and the trailblazing Chef Crenn.
To accompany the new champagne, Chef prepared a nine-course menu in her signature style, full of visual and gustatory delights—in particular, a Beet & Caviar Tartlet sourced from Bleu Belle Farm and inspired by the new cuvée. The event benefited La Cocina, a local nonprofit food business incubator working to solve problems of equity in business ownership for women, people of color and immigrant business owners, a fitting tribute to the restaurant pioneer who helmed the night’s festivities.
