Sherri McMullen Partners with Fashion House Christie Brown for Fall Capsule

Bay Area fashion leader and entrepreneur Sherri McMullen partnered with Aisha Ayensu, founder and creative director of Ghanaian fashion house Christie Brown, to co-host a dinner in celebration of African heritage. Christie Brown used the September 18 event to launch its new size-inclusive collaboration with McMullen. Guests were welcomed to McMullen’s flagship Oakland boutique for dinner and a live presentation of the Christie Brown x McMullen Fall capsule collection.

The intimate group was treated to a delicious three-course meal by Chef Lala of Jusla Eats, Oakland’s destination for fine Cajun and Southern cuisine. Dinner was served with a variety of fine wines from Brown Estates. The designs presented that evening offered a striking blend of high fashion and cultural history, capturing an aspect of African heritage. Another highlight of the evening was the debut of Christie Brown’s “At The Table” dinner series, originally from Ghana, now imported to Oakland, California. This unique experience is designed to foster connections among diners, in order to create a sense of community.

The special event also served as a way to welcome Aisha Ayensu and her fabulous designs to the Bay Area. Said McMuillen, “This project was over a year in the making and marks the first time I’ve ever co-designed a collection, making it incredibly special to share this evening with Aisha and our community.”
